UPDATE: As many of you likely already know, the Uptown 23rd District was hit hard by last week’s historic ice storm and many of the businesses and residents have been without power for several days, including our new Ted’s Tacos and Cantina. Being without power for such a long period of time has greatly affected our final preparations for opening day, which has required us to postpone our original opening date. We will now be opening on Wednesday, November 4.

Oklahoma City (October 27, 2020) – A new fast-casual concept from an established Oklahoma brand will be opening next week in Oklahoma City’s historic Uptown 23rd District. Ted’s Tacos and Cantina is set to open its doors to the public on Monday, November 2.

With a new menu and a new attitude, Ted’s Tacos and Cantina will feature an almost completely brand new menu, including specialty tacos, sheet pan nachos, loaded waffle fries and build your own burritos, as well as a few Ted’s favorites, including fresh-made salsa, queso, guacamole and fried avocados. The Cantina’s must-try feature item will be The Wet Taco, made with slow-cooked beef Birria and Oaxaca cheese on corn tortillas, grilled to order and served with onions, cilantro, lime and a beef consommé for dipping.

“While the name may have a funny connotation, we know this taco is going to be a guest favorite that they can only get at our Cantina,” David Foxx, chief operations officer for Ted’s Café Escondido. “Between that, our Nashville Hot Chicken tacos, Asada tacos, loaded queso, and more, guests are sure to find a new favorite item they will love.”

Additional highlights of the new restaurant include a large, pet-friendly patio with a fireplace and heaters, as well as a full-service bar offering both a traditional happy hour and a reverse happy hour in the evenings, including weekends.

While this new restaurant is operated by the same team behind Ted’s Café Escondido, Foxx continues to stress that the new Cantina is not the same format, menu or prices as the full-service restaurant concept.

“Guests coming to the Cantina will have a totally different experience then visiting one of our full-service restaurants,” Foxx explained. “We hope it intrigues not only our current Ted’s guests, but also guests who may not have tried us before. What we have brought to this new restaurant is our experience running one of Oklahoma’s best Mexican food restaurants since 1991. We really believe we have something for everyone.”

Beginning Monday, November 2, Ted’s Tacos and Cantina, located at 600 NW 23rd St., Suite A, will be open Sunday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Friday – Saturday from 7:30 a.m. – 12 a.m. The restaurant will be open for dine-in, including indoor and outdoor seating, to-go, and delivery through DoorDash, Postmates, UberEats and GrubHub.
